Some moons ago, before Budget was spun off in a private equity deal, they asked SpireMedia to assist with usability testing of their online rental application. Sarah worked with the Budget team to understand the goals of their testing and how the existing site worked. And in the process, she learned more about moving than she thought she ever wanted to know. For instance, did you know on average most households move once every five years? Moving is considered more stressful than a death in the family. Luckily no one died as a result of working on this project (as far as we know). But we did verbally eviscerate their online rental application. In the end, we made recommendations to bring the site inline with best practices and usability and accessibility concerns. But alas, the sale and acquisition happened, and we don’t know what happened to our recommendations documentation.
