A few years back, Cengage Gale asked Black Pepper to design them a Web site that could serve up their business content via subscription like Hoovers but with a better user experience. After a close look at Hoovers and other peer sites, we dug through Cengage’s extensive taxonomy and countless content types to organize company, industry, and business new information into the subscription-based site. It had it all, editorially-vetted research and up-to-the-minute news feeds. It even had an ecommerce feature.

We’re not sure the site ever went live. That makes us sad. After all, according to the FPO tagline, it was “the best online business resource ever.”
