Did you know the website Medicaid.gov isn’t for people who need or use Medicaid? Neither did we! It turns out, the site is for people administering Medicaid services at the state and federal level.
We learned this useful tidbit last year as part of a content strategy and navigation consulting gig with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMMS) for Medicaid.gov. Our traffic and survey analysis and our comparison of the site to other Department of Health and Human Services websites provided insight into the tasks and goals of site visitors so we could make recommendations to fine tune the navigation, targeting the site’s core audiences, while allowing an escape route for the many, many people who are looking for Medicaid services and land on the site in error. We hope to see these changes go live later this year.
